"I've used Marc Millman twice for two very special family events, my son's Bar Mitzvah and my wedding. In both cases, I was trying to avoid as much stress as possible with the planning and event itself. I wanted to capture all the special moments but do it in a way that was low key and didn't feel like work. Marc did an incredible job. I ended up with exactly what I wanted – which was beautiful pictures that captured the essence of what was going on – and done in a way that didn’t feel intrusive or stressful." 

For several years my entire extended family has gathered: six grandchildren, my three children and their spouses and me, Grandma- on Fire Island during the summer. Marc Millman has captured glorious spontaneous, as well as posed photographs, that all of us treasure on the walls of our homes. With so many little children, great patience, knowledge of the best lighting and a terrific sense of humor are required to produce the extraordinary and memorable photos we now have. One particular image is so special that Marc had it enlarged. The photo canvas is now the centerpiece of my living room.

Marc's photographic talent and his terrific people skills have made us all feel he is a part of our family as we continue to grow in numbers (and sizes). And he will continue to memorialize our life events and summer get-togethers."

My family has collected contemporary and fine art as far back as I can remember. Because my parents were avid art collectors, I discovered my love of art, painting and the creative process early in my childhood. It was this fascination with color and creativity that sparked my interest in photography as a new medium to work with. Photography was “instant art” and it was love at first sight!!!

Within 3 years, my company had grown into a team of talented photographers and filmmakers, and Sarah Merians Photography & Video Company became one of the premiere studios in the tri-state area!   In 2006, film was replaced by digital photography and the way images were received and shared changed completely.  While digital is a contemporary medium that has made images accessible to all, we believe that digital files should not be where our clients’ photography journey ends. Creating beautiful custom albums is still important to me, and I love creating family heirlooms that can be handed down from generation to generation just like a piece of jewelry that has been in the family for years. My father always said “If you love what you do you don’t work a day in your life “.   I feel truly lucky that I have this opportunity to combine what I love to do with my professional career.   Special event photography and magnificent family portraiture has been my life’s work for over 25 years, and I continue to be inspired by capturing these moments for generations to come.

Lia Chang is an actor, a multi-media content producer, an award-winning filmmaker and TV Host. She is the COO of Bev’s Girl Films, making films that foster inclusion and diversity on both sides of the camera. BGF collaborates with and produces multi-media content for artists, actors, designers, theatrical productions, composers, musicians and corporations. Lia is also a portrait and performing arts photographer and an award-winning multi-platform journalist. Lia writes about arts and entertainment on her Backstage Pass with Lia Chang blog. The Lia Chang theater portfolio collection, 1989-2011, is housed in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) collection located in the Library of Congress’ Asian Reading Room and the Lia Chang Photography Collection is currently being archived in The Billy Rose Theatre Division of NYPL. She stars in and served as Executive Producer for the short indie films Hide and Seek (Asian American Film Lab’s 2015 72 Hour Shootout Best Actress Nomination), Balancing Act, Rom-Com Gone Wrong, When the World Was Young (2021 DisOrient Film Audience Choice Award for Best Short Narrative).
